In the comedy “Our Worst Neighbors” and its sequel, they created a couple who unite against all odds in a neighborhood war that pits them against a university fraternity. Here they are back, but in a completely different configuration, as this time Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne return to us as longtime friends in this week’s Platonic series on AppleTV+.
This new anthology offers each season to follow the story of several adults united by platonic friendship. Thus, this first season depicts the friendship between a man and a woman, whose reunion after a few years apart takes them back in time to try to understand the reasons for their “breakup” (friendly of course).
This is the premise of this work, created by Nicholas Stoller, a specialist in American comedy, like Seth Rogen, the screenwriter of the cult sitcom The Campus Years, and Francesca Delbanco, creator of the Netflix series Friends from College. A story that cannot be autobiographical, the two screenwriters are married and parents of three children!
Discovered in the early 2000s by the series Freaks & Geeks and The Campus Years, before becoming one of the leaders of the Judd Apatow stable, Seth Rogen signs a brilliant return to the world of television, which began with the mini-series Pam last year. & Tom. The latter is also considered the producer of the TV series The Boys.
Rose Byrne, on the other hand, is a regular on the big screen, best known for her roles in the schoolboy comedies Spy and My Best Friends. Before Platonic, the Australian actor previously starred in the AppleTV+ series Physical, a drama set in the world of 80s aerobics clubs.
You can watch the new comedy Physical now on AppleTV+ and also with a myCANAL subscription!
