French Palme d’Or for director Justin Triet and his Autumn Anatomy at Cannes 2023

Two years after Julia Ducournau’s Titan, another French director won the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Filmmaker Justin Triet was honored for Anatomy of the Fall, a thriller that follows the trial of a woman accused of murdering her husband a year ago. His young visually impaired son attends the instruction, a true dissection of the couple created by the parents before the tragedy.

Here is the branch of the Palme d’Or chosen by Ruben Ostlund, president of the jury for this 76th edition of the Double Palm. After receiving the precious Sesame for the film without a filter (triangle of sadness), the Swedish director, already crowned in 2017 for The Square, delivered the verdict with the members of the jury, which consisted of Julia Ducournau, Brie Larsson, Rungano Nyon, Merriam. Touzani, Paul Dano, Denis Menoche, Atiq Rahim, and Damian Shiffron.

The Palme d’Or, introduced by Jane Fonda, is awarded to Justin Triet, who was already in competition with Sybil four years ago. His new film Anatomie d’un chute, a new French palm, is directed by Swan Arlod, German actress Sandra Hüller and young Milo Machada Graner.
