In 1980, Paul Schrader’s film American Gigolo was released. Julian Kay, played by Richard Giry at the time, is a handsome, dark man in his thirties who praises his charm in front of women. His life changes when a woman with whom he spends the night is found dead in bed. There is no doubt for the police that Julian is involved in this case. But he knows this is a conspiracy and is going to prove it.
Sadly, Julian pleads guilty to the murder of a young woman and receives severe imprisonment. A proposal that ends with the start of the American Gigolo series created by David Hollander (Hartland, Ray Donovan, and Ray Donovan film), designed for the Showtime channel, and in which Kay’s character is back.
After serving a 15-year sentence from prison, Julian is determined to find out the truth about that fateful night. Interpreted as John Bernthal (The Punisher, We Own This City, The Walking Dead) in this new version, American Gigolo’s protagonist also hopes to connect with Michelle, his great love, played by Gretchen Mall (Nightflyers, Boardwalk Empire).

However, he is not the only one who wants to know what happened. Inspector Week, played by Rosie O’Donnell (I know this to be true, SMILF), has been investigating independently all these years. But their search for the truth promises to be much harder than they imagined.

Along with John Bernthal, French actress Lizzie Broscher (do not worry, I’m here, Marona’s special journey) will play Isabel, the heiress to the Sex Workers Network. Gabriel Label (Predator and soon Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans) will be Johnny, a younger version of Julian.
Leland Orser (I Am The Night, Berlin Station) will play Richard Stratton, a tech billionaire, while Wayne Brady (The Good Fight, How I Met Your Mother) will play Lorenzo, Julian’s best friend.
The American Gigolo series consists of 10 episodes. No release date has been announced at this time.
