287 million hours in 3 days. I’d say not bad.
The return of ‘stranger things‘ has broken the best forecasts and has smashed the record for hours watched on Netflix in its first weekend. The first part of the fourth season has become the most watched English series in its opening weekend, far surpassing season 2′The Bridgertons‘.
According to the weekly rankings published by the platform, the first episodes of season 4 of the series of duffer brothers have been seen during 287 million hours in just 3 daystherefore occupying the first place among the most watched of the week.
Season 2 of ‘The Bridgertons’, which held the record until today, was watched for “only” 193 million hours during its premiere in the week of March 21-27. This means that ‘Stranger Things’ has destroyed its audience figures, exceeding them by almost 50%.
These numbers are hard to compare to what we had in October 2019, when Netflix announced that ‘Stranger Things’ season 3 was watched by 40 million households in its first 4 days of airing. Netflix, at that time, still had the condition that a chapter be seen in at least 70% of its entirety to be counted as “seen” (right now the minimum scale is 2 minutes). plus now the platform calculates the audience by hours and not by chapters viewed.

All these data, moreover, are published with Netflix as the only source, since there is no way to corroborate the reliability of themand they arrive in a few months of instability after announcing that the first quarter of 2022 was the first in 10 years with a negative subscription balancewhich caused a significant drop in the platform’s share price and rumors of budget cuts.
What is certain is that ‘Stranger Things’ has been renewed for a fifth season that will be the final closure of the series7 years after its debut in 2016 became the flagship of the streaming platform.
The final batch of episodes of season 4 will premiere worldwide 1st of July.
