There are unforgettable animated films that marked several generations like “Shrek” and therefore many dream of turning them into “live action”. Another film that fans of animation would like to see represented with real actors is “Anastasia”.
The 1997 feature film is inspired by real events that happened to Duchess Anastasia Nikolayevna Romanova, daughter of Emperor Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia.
Although the princess’ story is tragic in real life, in this version the young monarch finds her grandmother after several decades and manages to get her happy ending.
They propose a TikTok fancast for the live-action movie “Anastasia”
TikTok user @medardgrabowski was the one who suggested a rather specific cast, which had various opinions both for and against.
Maya Hawke, who in recent years has managed to stop being labeled as the girl from “Stranger Things” in her opinion she would be the perfect Anastasia, since they have similar physical features and a charming smile.
The film’s protagonist Dimitri would be played by Sebastian Stan, who is universally recognized as Bucky Barnes or the Winter Soldier in the MCU.
Although it would be interesting to see them on screen as a couple, not everyone agreed with the choice, as netizens assured in the comments that Sebastian is 16 years older than Maya, it would be very strange to see them together.
For Vladimir, Dimitri’s best friend Kim Bodnia, a Danish actress with a long career who has appeared in films such as “The Punisher” and the Netflix series “The Witcher”, was mentioned.
One thing that made netizens happy is that Jennifer Coolidge was cast as Sophie, the cheerful companion of Empress Dowager Marie.
Fiona Shaw, the actress who appeared in the “Harry Potter” saga as the protagonist’s aunt, was mentioned as a strong candidate. However, some argued that Julie Andrews could have performed better since she previously played Queen Clarice Renaldi in ‘The Princess Diaries’.
For some strange reason, the creator of the list thinks that Natasha Lyonne would be perfect to represent Mrs. Phlegmenkoff, who is in charge of the orphanage where Anya has been living since she was separated from her family.
Both choices caused displeasure among “Anastasia” fans as they reported that the ages of the actors did not match those of the cartoon characters.
Finally, Britain’s Kayvan Novak was chosen to bring Grigori Rasputin to the screen and Wanda Sykes as Bartok, the antagonist’s loyal sidekick for his long career as a comedian.
