In the futuristic metropolis of San Fransokyo (a fictional cross between San Francisco and Tokyo), Hiro Hamada is a young teenager with a cunning and inventive spirit. A true little robot genius, he uses his talents to defeat his rivals in secret robot battles. When his older brother Tadashi offers to follow him to university to find a nobler outlet for his inexhaustible creativity, Hiro causes a sensation with his micro-robots, and everyone seems to want to work with him.

But at the end of the presentation, a mysterious fire breaks out in the faculty and Tadashi dies in the explosion. Devastated by his older brother’s death, Hiro discovers that the latter left him his ultimate invention: a medical robot named Baymax.

Released in the mid-2010s, between two box office behemoths (Frozen and Zootopia), The New Heroes is the first (and to date only) animated classic from Disney Studios adapted from the comics. Marvel.

This unprecedented association – made possible after the much-ballyhooed acquisition of Marvel Entertainment in 2009 – allows Don Hall and Chris Williams’ film to bring an Avengers-worthy superhero vibe to Mickey’s studio.

In this animated Marvel menu, we find all the ingredients of the genre: a team of vigilantes, a flying suit of armor, a supervillain and epic battle sequences in the heart of the city. Without forgetting the traditional trademark of the house: the main cameo of Stan Lee, the legendary creator of the most famous characters of Marvel.

But under that explosive shell, which will definitely remind fans of the adventures of Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy, The New Heroes remains Disney first and foremost! Its world is certainly a far cry from big classics like Aladdin or Peter Pan, but its DNA is completely in line with the studio’s heritage. Thus, we will find there a brilliant story of friendship and a very beautiful sequence of emotions that can, in the purest tradition of the studio, even bring you to a little tear.

With an average rating of 4.093 stars out of 5 from AlloCiné viewers, Les Nouveaux Héros collected a wonderful score of $657 million worldwide when it was released in theaters, making it the 7th biggest studio release.

What could be bothering them…

• There is nothing terrible about the new characters. But Tadashi’s sudden disappearance and Hiro’s mourning at the beginning of the film, on the other hand, may affect the youngest viewers.
