Effective communication is among the top ten most sought-after skills by leaders; Priscilla Caminha, CEO of AO Consultoria Empresarial and TEDx Speaker, talks about the importance of this skill

A study conducted by McKinsey & Companyan American consulting firm, in 2022, revealed that leadership is critical to success in the vision of nine out of ten leaders (90%), as published by HR World portal.




At the same time, a survey of randstadrecruitment and selection firm, indicated that effective communication is among the top ten most sought-after skills in business leaders, ahead of items such as ‘decision making’, ‘ability to motivate teams’, ‘resilience’ and ‘ability to delegate’.

Incidentally, the projected budget for the corporate communication area in Brazil in 2023 is R$ 35.3 billion, according to data from an exclusive survey on the “Corporate Communication Budget”, published by aberje (Brazilian Association of Business Communication).

The trainer points out that in entrepreneurial communication the sender assumes the role of protagonist and agent of transformation. He knows how to speak and listen, respects himself and others, knows how to give and receive feedback and, above all, understands his responsibility and his power to influence.

“The WEF (World Economic Forum) 2022 has published a report that considers the new phase of the market, post-pandemic, and presented the soft skills that will be on the rise for all professionals by 2025, such as: analytical thinking and innovation, learning and learning strategies, creativity, leadership, resilience, stress tolerance and flexibility, emotional intelligence, persuasion and negotiation,” reports the mentor.

According to the CEO of AO Consultoria Empresarial, many of the soft skills mentioned by the WEF report depend on or derive from good communication. “To get results, the leader must be able to communicate. Similarly, for a salesperson to use his persuasion and negotiation skills, he must also be able to communicate.”

After all, he continues, the experts underline that communication is part of a component that generates demand and relationships and that it cannot be based only on sales, but on a whole context that involves planning, positioning, truth and passion.
