Indiana Jones 2: Temple of Doom’s biggest mistake is hidden in 9 minutes

Despite its ambitions and many qualities, even a film as legendary as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom sometimes makes a few mistakes.

As our inconsistency experts Michelle & Michelle were quick to point out in their show covering the first two parts of the saga, the most glaring of these mistakes can be found right at the beginning of the feature film, in the memorable opening sequence. did you notice

In this scene, Indy has inadvertently ingested a deadly poison and has only a few minutes left to recover the antidote – contained in a small vial – before succumbing. The urgency of the situation leads to a confrontation between the archaeologist and gangster Lao Che’s men in the middle of a Shanghai nightclub. An institution whose name also hides the Star Wars saga.

To watch the movie’s biggest spoof, press pause once at 9 minutes and 35 seconds (see above). In those moments, Indiana Jones took refuge in front of the statue and avoided the daggers thrown at him by his enemies. Beside him, the club’s full orchestra continues to play, the music accompanying the action.

So far, nothing unusual. But let another three seconds pass and create a new freeze frame at 9:38. After a reverse shot and a closer shot of Indy releasing a drum cymbal, we see that for a very brief moment, in a wide shot, the orchestra just disappears!

It is hard to imagine that the musicians managed to escape in such a short time. Therefore, this is really quite a false connection.

This type of error, which would be difficult to notice at first glance, is quite common on products of this scale.
