Warning, spoilers. Before continuing to read this article, it is advisable to watch the first part of the 4th season of Stranger Things.
Fan-approved, the first part of the 4th season of Stranger Things left no one indifferent, especially with its already cult sections, such as Max (Seddie Sink) on Kate Bush’s song “Running Up That Hill”. But the other scene also provoked a strong reaction – quite unfortunate – from internet users.
There is talk of the death of a fan Chris (Grace Van Dien) who was killed by Vecna, the big bad of this season. The first episode of the fourth season was devoted to portraying this character and portraying his anxieties, traumas, and nightmares so that we can empathize with him. To solve his sleep problems, Chris goes to a high school psychologist, but also to Eddie (Joseph Quinn) from the Hellfire Club, who can sell his herb to calm him down.
But the two students do not even have time to develop their discussion and their relationship when Chris is caught in the act and brutally killed. Fans have found that there was good chemistry between Eddie and Chris and it is a shame that Chris is no longer part of the Stranger Things landscape.
The creators of the Netflix series, even Matt and Ross fans, have a bit of an apology for their choice. They admitted about it in an interview TVLine : “We always have moments like that. We shot the drug scene in the woods quite late, actually during the filming. We already killed Chris when we shot it.”
Chris and Eddie started dating before they came and ruined everything.
And it was this scene that made more Daffer realize that Chris and Eddie had very good chemistry that, unfortunately, could no longer be used: “The scene came to life in such a wonderful way. And a lot of it’s thanks to Josh and Grace. It was just one of those happy scenes where we were able to shoot two cameras at once. Joe was improvising. A little bit and Grace was amazingly responsive.”
The brothers’s impressions were impressed by the acting of Grace Van Dien, revealed in the Greenhouse Academy series, who managed to make her character so attractive in just one episode. This death reminds us of Bobby’s season 2, which also irritated fans as well as the creators of Stranger Things: “I did not want to do that. We fell in love with the character and Sean Austin. Sean did not want to die. Winona Ryder did not want to die either.”
And their latest announcement is about the future of the Netflix series, which will end at the end of its 5th season: “But we’ll find something else with Grace, something else with Sean.” What do the brothers mean by this? Until we find out more, we won’t have to wait long until Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 2 is revealed, starting July 1st.
