The 2016 comedy Back to My Mother tells the story of Stephanie, a 40-year-old girl played by Alexandra Lammy, who is forced to return to her mother, Jacqueline, played by Jossian Balasco. In Un tour chez ma fille, the sequel was released five years later and aired this Sunday evening by TF1, in reverse: mother Jacqueline comes to her daughter’s house.
Josian Balasco is back as the mother, but unexpectedly, Alexandra Lam is absent from the adventure. In Un tour chez ma fille, the girl put forward is no longer Stephanie, but the older Carol, interpreted by Matilda Seiner. Explanations.
The idea of this change was presented to Eric Lavine by Alexandra Lammy herself. “In the first version of the script, the mother moved in with Stephanie”– says the director. “Alexandra Lammy immediately warned me about the risk of making the same film as the previous one, namely the confrontation between a mother and her beloved daughter.”
“So it was Alexandra who suggested to me that it would be more interesting for her mother to live with Carol, her other daughter, with whom she has the least relationship.”he continues. “Suddenly, it lowered Alexandra’s score significantly, and we thought the best thing was to send her to Brazil. With Alexandra, we’ll meet again in the next film.”
