The Italian Public Prosecutor’s Office could issue this Monday 24, a favorable opinion on the dissemination of videos recorded by the camera system of the Rome airport, in Italy, with images of hostility towards the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes. The national secretary of justice, Augusto de Arruda Botelho, the government official in charge of coordinating cooperation agreements in criminal matters with foreign countries, said he does not believe there are any obstacles to sending the videos.
“Everything is within normal limits and the deputy’s demonstration was a request from the Italian judge before issuing his decision,” Botelho told Estadão.
Last weekend, the PF asked the Italian authorities to keep the digital files. On Monday 17 Botelho sent Italy a request to release the images for use in criminal proceedings in Brazil.
The Italian government official preferred to submit the Brazilian request to the local court.
The videos were expected to be released as early as last week, but before allowing the local judge, he asked the deputy to demonstrate.
The Federal Police has already seen the images but did not attach them to the file because this would depend on official approval through criminal collaboration. That is, the release of the videos should be done through the National Secretariat of Justice, linked to the Ministry of Justice.
According to Botelho, when there is judicial authorization, the Italian authorities must indicate an official link where the images will be archived. The secretary stated that he did not have access to the images and therefore preferred not to comment on their content.
