LALIGA announces new measures to combat racism

One of the most negative points of the last round of European football was definitely cases of racism involving Vinicius Júnior during the last season of LALIGA.

Thinking of a more affirmative form of combat and overcoming the barrier of effect messages, the organization of the Spanish championship announced, this Tuesday (8), the creation of a multifunctional platform aimed at raising awareness and combating this criminal practice which is taking name of ‘LALIGA VS RACISM’. The presentation took place between the display of the brand’s new visual identity and other innovations planned for the 2023/2024 season.

In the words of Daniel Alonso and Leonardo Cunha, LALIGA Delegates in Brazil, in addition to strengthening communication campaigns with measures such as the use of bracelets and messages displayed during games, the range has been expanded to provide, with greater clarity, channels of communication and possible initiatives that the body responsible for governing the main divisions of Spanish football has undertaken in the last decade.

In addition, a platform was presented where fans can access a website, via QR Code, and make an anonymous report when they witness a case of racism that occurred during one of LALIGA’s engagements. Having, as a central idea, that of speeding up the process of reporting and identifying those responsible for the crime to the country’s authorities.

According to representatives of the body that organizes the main club tournaments in Spain, the platform was the result of a series of ideas presented by members of a commission dedicated exclusively to measures to combat racism. Since, for the composition of this commission, people of different nationalities who work in the different poles of LALIGA around the world have been chosen, with the intention of listening to different points of view and problems, especially reported by people who are targets of this criminal practice .
