Lionsgate has released the poster and first trailer for “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” a thriller starring Daisy Ridley (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) as a woman hiding a terrible secret about her past.
Helena, the protagonist, has a seemingly ordinary life, living in a cabin with her young daughter and her boyfriend. However, unknown to anyone, she hides a dark and dangerous origin: her father is the notorious Swamp King, an assassin who kidnapped her mother and held her captive for years in the bush where Helena was born. When she escapes from prison, Helena knows she will be hunted, and to protect her family, she must use everything she has learned from the killer and find the strength to face the man who taught her how to survive in the bush.
The film is an adaptation of Karen Dionne’s psychological novel of the same name, with a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) and direction by Neil Burger (“Divergent”), and the cast also stars Ben Mendelsohn (“Secret Invasion”).”) as the outlaw father and Garrett Hedlund (“On the Road”) as Ridley’s boyfriend.
The premiere will take place on October 6 in the United States, but for now a release in Brazil is not yet planned.
