Adam Driver is expected on the Lido island despite the strike
The second day of the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival, Thursday 31, will host a trio of exceptional screenings in the competition for the Golden Lion: the horror comedy “El Conde”, by the Chilean Pablo Larrain, which imagines a the vampire Augusto Pinochet; the highly anticipated “Ferrari,” by Michael Mann; and Luc Besson’s noir drama “Dogman.”
The day will also be marked by the arrival on the Lido island of Adam Driver, one of the few VIP stars expected at the Festival, given that Hollywood is on a strike of actors and screenwriters and only independent productions have been authorized to send teams to the event.
Even so, to convey the message of support for the strike, the expectation is that Driver wears his strike shirt and just takes a day trip to Venice.
The presence of other cast members has not been confirmed, such as Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Jack O’Connell and the Brazilian Gabriel Leone.
Adam Driver plays legendary racing driver and producer Enzo Ferrari, while Penélope Cruz plays his wife Laura. The couple deal with the possible breakdown of their marriage after the loss of a child.
On the verge of bankruptcy, Enzio risks everything in one last race, the Mille Miglia, in 1957, a race so perilous it was canceled the following year.
After the screenings in the festivals, the public will be able to see the film starting from Christmas in American cinemas. .
