You may have missed the information when it appeared in the middle of the Cannes Film Festival last May. A time when all eyes were on the red carpets and stars of the planet’s most popular meeting place for moviegoers…
Last May, a surprise announcement was made about one of the most popular franchises of the moment in France: The Tuches are coming back for episode 5, it’s official… but with a major change!
According to Satellifacts, which we reported in May, Jean-Paul Rouvi will replace Olivier Barroux in directing the 5th episode of the saga.
Artistic and financial disagreements
Produced by Richard Grandpierre and Olivier Baruwill not be associated with the new film due to artistic and financial differences“, – noted Satellifacts. Jean-Paul Rouve will also sign the script of the feature film: the story will take place in England.
Note that Jean-Paul Rouve had already made several films before he took control of the Tuche saga. This will be exactly his 5th film, No Guns, No Hate, No Violence (2008), When I’m Young (2012), Souvenirs (2015) and Lola et ses frères (2018). Les Tuche 5 will still be produced by Pathé and the cast remains the same.
TF1 will broadcast the first part of Tuches this Tuesday evening. If we combine the receipts of the 4 films to date, the franchise has sold more than 14 million tickets in total. The most successful episode was Les Tuche 3 in 2018 with 5.7 million admissions. The last part, which was released in December 2021, in a context still disturbed by the Covid crisis, was a bit disappointing in terms of reception, with 2.4 million admissions, or less than half of the third.
