Already in the silent era, several films highlighted this legendary character, most notably Douglas Fairbanks as Alan Duane’s Robin Hood in 1922, before Errol Flynn made his mark in this prestigious role in a 1938 remake. Walt Disney further popularized the character by releasing his cartoon in 1973.
In 1991, this new version of Kevin Reynolds was released, starring Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman as Azim, Christian Slater as Will Scarlett, and the late Alan Rickman as Sheriff George. Nottingham and Mary Elizabeth Mastroianni as Marianne.

The following year, another big box office success for the actor, Bodyguard by Mick Jackson, was released. The story of Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent and experienced bodyguard, who is one day offered a lucrative contract by impresario Bill Devaney to protect his client, Rachel (Whitney Houston), an actress and singer who is threatened by an unknown fan.
Apart from the film, it is also his flagship song I will always love you That would contribute to its success, with the soundtrack still the best-selling in history with over 40 million copies sold.
