Apple TV + has announced that it will return to “Schmigadoon!”. Almost a year after the premiere of the first season, the musical attraction received an official order for new episodes.
The first series of Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, writers-creators of “Despicable Me” (2010) and “Pets: The Secret Life of Pets” (2016), the series follows a couple in crisis played by Keegan-Michael Key (“The Graduation Party “) and Cecily Strong (” Saturday Night Live “), who, during a walk in the woods, ends up in a magical place where everyone sings, dances and acts like in a classic musical.
Annoyed, they realize they can’t escape and soon find themselves arguing about how to live in that Shangri-La and Brigadoon combination, called Schmigadoon, where everyone is always happy.
In the second season, Key and Strong will be transported to a new mystical place, “Schmicago”, a world of musicals from the 60s and 70s.
In addition to them, the singer-dancer cast will again include Ariana DeBose (who won an Oscar for “Love, Sublime Amor”), Dove Cameron (“Descendants”), Jaime Camil (“Jane the Virgin”), Kristin Chenoweth ( “Pushing Daisies”), Alan Cumming (“Instinct”), Jane Krakowski (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), Ann Harada (“Smash”), Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”) and Aaron Tveit (“Secrets of the Paradise “/ Graceland).
And there are still news. Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) and Patrick Page (“In a Neighborhood of New York”) will also be part of the second season, which will again be produced by Lorne Michaels, the creator of the longtime comedy “Saturday Night Live” .
