Deadpool 3 is scheduled to release on May 3, 2024. As fans eagerly await the new film, cameo rumors are only growing. The most recent (and most curious) is that singer Taylor Swift will give life to the mutant character Alison Blaire, also known as Cristal.
Introduced in the late 1970s, Alison Blaire is able to manipulate lights and sounds. She chose Cristal (Dazzler, in the original) as her stage name, promising fans a show created thanks to “technical secrets”. Although her mystery enchanted critics, nightclub owners and bohemians, it didn’t take long for other mutants to see what lay beyond her vocal performance.
In Uncanny X-Men #130, her comic book debut, Cristal was the subject of a dispute between the Hellfire Club and the X-Men. And, between siding with the Beast, Cyclops and Jean Grey, who wanted to recruit her, or Emma Frost, who intended to capture her, she preferred Professor Xavier’s team.
This was a temporary partnership, as he did not want to join the X-Men to pursue his music career. But, surprisingly, he fought side by side with the heroes and helped defeat the rival organization.
But could Cristal, in fact, be played by Swift? Well, the shared dedication to her pop career is something that unites the character and the singer in real life.
The problem is, there isn’t much to support this rumor. Yes, it’s true that the music star is close to Ryan Reynolds and his family. And it is also true that the actor who gives life to Deadpool has already admitted that he wants to work with Taylor Swift. But the convergent points end here.
Additionally, Swift has been on the road for months with the Eras Tour, a commitment that will last until November 2024. She is still releasing re-recordings of her early albums. In October it will be 1989 (Taylor’s Version), but Reputation and their debut album are still missing.
In other words, even with strikes by Hollywood actors and screenwriters preventing Deadpool 3 from resuming filming, finding a slot on the pop music star’s schedule would be a challenge to say the least. Which doesn’t mean it’s impossible…
