(Please note that you should be up to date with One Piece before reading this article)

This is the end of an arc that has kept One Piece fans in suspense for over a year. After episode 61, Luffy emerged victorious in a battle against Kaido. Episode 1076, which was released online a few days ago, closed this epic face-off between the two pirates.

Thus, One Piece broke its own record and became the anime with the longest battle in history. and far away The record was previously held by Luffy and Katakuri, which lasted no less than 22 episodes.

In comparison, the longest fight in Dragon Ball Z lasted 19 episodes (Goku vs. Frieza), while the one between Naruto and Pine (Clip of Shippuden) lasted “only” 6 short episodes.

This fight between Luffy and Kaido is remarkable in many ways, not just its length. We know that Vano’s saga will be one of the last in the One Piece manga. Eiichiro Oda has vowed to retire in the coming years.

And he still has many revelations to make to us before it is over. One of the most important concerns the true nature of the Straw Hat Pirate’s Devil Fruit.

From the beginning of the manga and anime, Oda has dropped some hints about the type of fruit that Luffy possesses (which after all isn’t Gomu Gomu no Mi like we thought). In the Skypiea arc, the god Enel was already wondering about his abilities… and he was almost right.

Triumphant over the captain of a crew of one hundred beasts, the young boy awakened his true fruit, Hito Hito no mi model Nika, a mythical Zoan that had long been desired and that had always eluded the World Government. He can actually access Nika, the sun god, using his Gear 5.

In the final part of this battle, Luffy uses a new technique that is his most powerful yet: the Bajrang Weapon. By injecting two fluids into his arms, he allows him to maximize his fist and deliver the final blow to his opponent. It’s enough to make Kaido fall into the land of Wai.

In Episode 1077 of One Piece, which will be available on September 24th, the public will be able to celebrate the fall of the Emperor…

The anime is available in France on ADN and Crunchyroll.
