Warner Bros. Discovery announced on Thursday (21) that the debut of Max, its new streaming service after the merger with Discovery+, will arrive in Latin America only in early 2024. The postponement was confirmed by JB Perrette, CEO and president of Warner Bros Global Streaming and Games, during an event in Los Angeles.
We need to roll it out to the rest of the world, including Latin America, Europe and APAC – we were originally going to do it by the end of the year. To ensure we get it right, we will delay the launch in Latin America until the first quarter of next year.
B Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery.
The merger of HBO Max with Discovery+ positions Max as one of the largest streaming catalogs on the market. The union of the two platforms promises to offer users a wide selection of original and exclusive content, in addition to releases already highly anticipated by fans — such as the new series Harry Potter and the spin-offs of game of Thrones AND The Big Bang Theory.
The news, however, does not stop here. The new platform will also be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology that will serve to optimize searches between 20% and 30% compared to HBO Max and Discovery Plus.
In theory, not much changes for users in terms of access to streaming. They will only have to download the new application, having automatic access using their data.
