MC Daniel releases music video with ex-girlfriend Mel Maia in the style of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”

MC Daniel released the music video for the song “Grana, Dinheiro e Fama”, featuring actress Mel Maia, his famous ex-girlfriend. The production, which features an action and romance plot, was inspired by the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” (2005) and includes scenes atop the helipad of the Sheraton hotel, in Brooklyn, São Paulo.

In the video directed by Max Fonseca and Mateus Rigola, in addition to Mel Maia, MC Daniel’s parents, Daniela Amorim and Christian Daniel, and his friend MC Ryan SP also appear. The plot involves the couple trying to save the funk singer’s parents from a kidnapping.

The clip was recorded before the end of MC Daniel and Mel Maia’s relationship, which ended last month.

End of a relationship

The couple began their relationship in December 2022 and went through a previous breakup at the end of May. Rumors circulated at the time that the breakup was linked to the funk singer’s bouts of jealousy and geographical distance, as Mel lives in Rio de Janeiro and Daniel in Sao Paulo.

About a month after their first separation, the couple surprised the public by announcing a reconciliation. During one show, MC Daniel even adapted the lyrics of the song “Revoada” to talk about dating, causing euphoria among fans. Signs of new instability, however, emerged at the end of August, when Mel Maia did not comment on the singer’s birthday, scheduled for the 27th.

Announcing the separation, Mel Maia said: “My relationship with Daniel was born from a friendship. We love each other, we respect each other and we want the best for each other. And we have decided together to preserve this very important feeling. We are no longer a couple, but we remain friends.”

MC Daniel also spoke and declared: “I have come to inform all of you that my relationship with Melissa has come to an end. I want her to be happy, I have respect and affection for her and her family. I am rooting for her and her for me and we want each other’s best.”
