Surprise at CT Parque Gigante. After all, a Conmebol team showed up to carry out anti-doping tests on Internacional players, this Saturday (23/9), four days before the Libertadores semi-final. Therefore the athletes were only able to train after the tests. And they still had to wait for the weather to improve, as a storm hit Porto Alegre.
Recent cases of doping
In July, Rodrigo Moledo, 34, was suspended after a test found the presence of ostarine in the Colorado defender’s system. The anti-doping test was carried out on May 25, after the match against Metropolitanos, in Caracas, Venezuela, in the 4th round of the Libertadores group stage. Moledo was on the pitch and Internacional beat their rivals 2 to 1. Ostarine is a substance that acts on receptors linked to androgen hormones, mainly testosterone. In this way it carries out an anabolic action and increases muscle mass, giving more strength and promoting vigor in performance.
Recently Manoel, from Fluminense, was also suspended due to an anti-doping test which confirmed the use of the same substance.
Odds: Influenza has the edge over Internacional
Last week, a survey by the Federal University of Minas Gerais on the chances of success in the Libertadores showed that Fluminense have a 60.8% chance of winning the competition title. Internacional, however, holds only 3.1%.
Libertadores semi-finals: first leg in Rio
