Netflix has just made the French mini-series Tapie available to its subscribers. In this fiction inspired by real events, the extraordinary fortunes of businessman Bernard Tapp are at the center of the story. Laurent Lafitte (from Comédie-Française) swims in the skin of this public character, who was criticized and died in 2021.
The “boss” of OM.
Sometimes a singer, sometimes a business manager, then a TV presenter or even a government minister, the “boss” of the Marseille Olympics, Bernard Tapi, also left his mark.
Moreover, this project created by Olivier Demangel and Tristan Seguela (who offered Laurent Lafitte a look at Bernard Tapie) harkens back to the glory days of the main party at the helm of the football club.
So 30 years ago, Bernard Tapie’s OM won the Champions League against AC Milan on 26 May 1993. A historic victory for the club, which caused joy and hysteria among the fans, which we will see again in the series. Also, how were those match scenes filmed?
“We screamed at night“
For AlloCiné, Tristan Seguela (who also directed seven episodes of Tapie) answers:People won’t be surprised to hear that we didn’t fill the stadiums and that we didn’t go back to the Olympic Stadium in Munich (laughs).
“There were about fifty or a hundred of us on the pitch, shouting, trying to capture the scene of joy after OM won in 1993 (laughs). We screamed at night on a field on the outskirts of Reims! We have to believe in post-production.”The director recalls.
“Me, Laurent, all the actors, we really hoped that this moment would turn out the way we wanted it to. But when we shot it, we were pretty much on our own… it was a lot of work, but it was pretty awesome to do it again“, concludes Tristan Seguela. The result on a screen that is larger than life!
