A few weeks ago, the explosion at the Agnès Varda high school injured many people in Tomorrow Belongs to Us.
After emerging unscathed from this horrific drama, Chloe (Ingrid Chauvin) prepares for a major challenge in the upcoming episodes of the TF1 daily soap opera.
Introduced at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival last September, Ingrid Chauvin, her translator, spoke to Allocine about what lies ahead for her character in the coming weeks.
Allociné: Tomorrow Belongs To Us celebrated its sixth anniversary this year. How do you feel about this adventure and part of life spent in the shoes of Chloe Delcourt?
Ingrid Chauvin : I find it incredible. It’s exciting to see Chloe’s evolution and accompany her on all her adventures over the course of six years. I say to myself: “Poor thing, it’s still boring!(laughs).
Do you still enjoy playing it?
Yes! I believe that the moment you stop enjoying it, you should stop. It’s true, in the end, it’s the pressure as an actor, not to disappoint the public, to constantly reinvent yourself so you don’t tire people, to find ideas, a way, and evolve to meet their expectations.
Why do you think the series is so popular with viewers after so many years?
I think the producers, writers and the channel are listening to the public. I believe there are fairly regular polls. For my part, I still have that addictive side when I discover scripts. I want to know what happens next. We’re excited to see what happens. I get the impression that as long as we continue to feel this way, the same will affect society. I hope so anyway.
Agnès Varda High School was recently the scene of a terrible explosion. What was it like filming this episode for anyone else?
It was incredible! It was a heavy and somewhat anxiety-inducing atmosphere. This is the key word of the series at the moment (laughs). It was moving, painful. It is not so easy because we are still treated wrongly. We did not work in extreme conditions, but it was still a special context. And at the same time, we are completely immersed in it, because we are in a unique environment with dramatic situations. Eventually, we get caught up in the game more easily.
You clearly did your stunts for this episode. Was it new and did you like it?
Everyone says that, but not really. Yes, I picked up stones, but they are not real stones. on the other hand, “I believe I can fly“, that’s not me (laughs). I had an illiterate and fortunately because I think I would have come out in a thousand ways. But it was quite impressive!
Tomorrow Belongs To Us doesn’t really skimp on the series’ high schools. The now-demolished Agnes Varda will make way for a new facility, the Georges Brassens High School. What do you think about this new decor that we will be revealing at the end of the month?
Not much, because I haven’t discovered it yet and have no idea what will happen there. I can tell that Chloe will definitely be in a reflection phase after this traumatic event. He will ask himself a lot of questions about the future, his priorities and obligations. This explosion affected him emotionally. So it’s opening up a field of possibilities for another future.
So, could she be considering a career change?
He could. It is in this reflection anyway.
If Chloe came out of the explosion unscathed, this does not apply to Mariana (Luce Muschel) who recently underwent leg surgery. How will her rehabilitation go and what will Chloe’s role be with her mother?
Seeing her mother in this state will have a great psychological and emotional impact on Chloe. And at the same time, it creates a wonderful relationship between Marian and Chloe. They are always a bit like cats and dogs, but there is a fear of what we love most in the world. It will bring them closer.
This is a year marked by significant departures for the Delcourt clan. After Anna, Judith chose to go to America for a while. How did you experience the trip? Maud Becker and Alice Varela ?
It’s slow! Then, we know that everything is evolutionary. Young people want to look elsewhere. Which is legitimate and normal. It is important. After that, what I want to say is that nothing is final. Suddenly everything is possible. They can come back and reappear. It’s good to get some fresh air sometimes to come back feeling better.
There was also the arrival of Diego (Enzo Rose), a teenager who is adopted by the family and whom Chloe loves as her own child. Would you say this character breathes new life into the Delcourt family?
Yes! This is a new item that is coming. And then, for once, Chloe’s character got it really spontaneously and instantly. Also, I love this cast. I think he has a very promising future. He is very good on a human level. He is a young man with a good head on his shoulders. He has great culture, elegance, sophistication and listening skills. He is very good.
Can we expect some family intrigue centered around the Delcourt and Diego clan in the coming weeks?
I think. In my opinion, Diego really became part of the family. I like the idea of him becoming a full-fledged child to the Delcourts. So there will definitely be stories around it.
Can the Delcurs get it?
completely! That’s how I see it in my head. Then what will be possible or not, I don’t know, but at least that’s how I see it.
Laurent Gamelon He recently joined Tomorrow Belongs to us as Gilles. We feel you are having so much fun filming these family scenes…
This is true ventilation. This character is very cool. It feels good, but it’s also good for a series that’s generally still very dark. Gilles is a colorful character, very pleasant. Additionally, we’re going to do a Delcury-centric arch with it. It will bring a different atmosphere.
What can you tell us about this arch?
Not so obviously (laughs). In any case, we will be in the registry of lightness. We’re getting out of that anxiety-inducing atmosphere a little bit, and that’s a good thing. It will be funny.
Fancy delving into the past of Clan Delcourt?
It’s amazing. And even for us, because we meet new people. This helps to avoid any fatigue. These are small colors and emotions that come gradually. We walk together and it’s great.
Chloe and Alex (Alexander Brasser) are stronger than ever. What can we expect from the couple in the upcoming episodes?
It’s been a long time since we saw them fight against each other and today they face each other hand in hand. It changes a little and is quite pleasant.
We really like Chloe and Rafael’s friendship (Jennifer Lorre). Will we see more of their interaction in the coming weeks?
Anyway, it was really a request from me because we are very good friends in real life. And then it is very interesting to see two girls together on the screen. I think there are a lot of women who could recognize themselves in Chloe and Rafael.
Do you have any other projects besides Tomorrow Belongs To Us that you can talk about?
In three weeks, I will play in an episode of Leo Mattei. This is a small air where I have the pleasure of meeting Jean-Luc Reichman, with whom I have played in the theater in the past. The episode will be directed by his wife Natalie, whom I know very well.
