Confirming a report published by Fortune in August, X/Twitter has begun removing titles and descriptions from links to news and articles posted on the platform. At the time, Elon Musk, the social network’s CEO, confirmed plans for the change, which aims to improve the aesthetics of the platform, but there was no date for implementation yet.
According to Engadget, a foreign portal that has already noticed the difference in posting a link on X, the main reason for the new format is to make the posts appear more compact, adapting them to the feed that appears on the screen.
Additionally, the design can serve as a strategy to force users to post longer texts, which may require a subscription to Blue, the social network’s Premium account that offers several benefits, including a higher character limit and the ability to edit texts even after publication.
It is also worth remembering that, again in August, the billionaire had declared in a post onmore freedom to write and a higher income” duty “publish directly” on the platform.
