Anticipated for over five years, the new Dragon Ball anime has finally been revealed! But fans of the famous license are in for a big surprise, as the series will not be a continuation of Dragon Ball Super – nor the Broly and Super Hero movies – but will follow a completely independent story that will take place shortly after the end of Dragon. Ball Z.
Originally there was a Dragon Ball manga (42 volumes available from Glénat) created by Akira Toriyama. Adapted from the comics, the series was split into two different anime: Dragon Ball, which focuses on the protagonist San Goku’s childhood, and Dragon Ball Z, which follows his adult adventures.
In addition to the fifteen films, the DBZ series was officially continued in 2015 under the title Dragon Ball Super. Complete with two feature films, the series did not adapt the entire manga (20 volumes are currently available from Glennati), it ceased broadcasting on March 25, 2018, at the end of the Tournament of Power narrative arc.
The brand new series will be called Dragon Ball Daima, which according to the manga author can be translated as Dragon Ball Evil (maleficent in french, editor’s note). In this new adventure, the manga’s main characters are rejuvenated by a demon. An arena that reminds you of… Dragon Ball GT, the unofficial sequel to Dragon Ball Z!

While the first images of the series were revealed during the New York Comic-Con panel, you’ll have to wait until you discover Dragon Ball Daima. The start of the program is actually planned only next autumn, and the French broadcaster has not yet been announced.
As a reminder, all Dragon Ball series (Z, Super, GT, Kai) are currently available exclusively on the specialized DNA platform!
