During the break due to the FIFA date, the Palmeiras team will have a day off this Sunday

In the midst of the ‘crisis’ – with the promise of protests and elimination in the Libertadores and defeat in the classic -, in addition to still making the controversial statements of president Leila Pereira resonate, Palmeiras took a break this Sunday (15) on the Date of FIFA. No work at the Football Academy, then.

Abel Ferreira’s men will only be back in action this Monday (16th), at 10am (Brasilia time).

The Alviverde team is preparing for the duel against Atlético-MG, the next match of the season, scheduled for Thursday, starting at 7pm (Brasilia time), at Allianz Parque. The match is valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.

However, it’s the atmosphere behind the scenes that draws attention.

Leila Pereira’s press conference added more fuel to the fire, as the Verdão president addressed controversial issues such as hiring, fierce criticism of organized fans, management and Alviverde’s conflict of interest.

Some sentences, in particular, aroused the ire of the infamous inhabitants of Palmeiras. Claiming, among other controversial phrases, that the club had “no merit of its own” for its stay in the first division in 2014, Leila provoked a response from former president Paulo Nobre, for example.

Palmeiras occupies fourth place in the table, with 44 points, and sees the fight for the Brazilian title increasingly distant. Currently, with 12 rounds left in the competition, the distance from the leader Botafogo is eleven points.
