The measure comes into force on October 18
From October 18th all tickets for the Colosseum in Rome, one of the most famous monuments in Italy, will be nominative to avoid touts.
The promise comes after reports that resellers were running out of tickets available online and giving them away to tourists for amounts up to five times the original price, which is 18 euros (R$96), including the booking fee.
“I would like to thank the director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, Alfonsina Russo, and the director of the Museums, Massimo Osanna, for the speed with which they managed to define the introduction of the nominal ticket, a central measure to free one of the symbols of our historical heritage -cultural from the phenomenon of change”, stated the Minister of Cultural Heritage Gennaro Sangiuliano.
The Colosseum will also open a new physical ticket office to enhance the on-site ticket sales network, bringing the number of stages available to six.
As a result, 55% of tickets will be offered online directly to the final consumer, 25% to tour operators and the remaining 20% ββat physical ticket offices. βA new era begins for the Colosseum Archaeological Park,β promises Sangiuliano.
Access to the nearly 2,000-year-old amphitheater is currently limited to 3,000 people at a time. .
