“If you get in one of my cars, it’s for the win.” The tone is set from the very first seconds of the trailer. Billed as one of the most anticipated films of 2024, Ferrari marks the return of director Michael Mann eight years after the release of his last feature Hacker.
Adapted from the book Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine by Brock YatesThis biopic stars Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz as his wife Laura Ferrari and Shailene Woodley as his mistress, Lina Lard.
This project was directed by Michael Mann from the early 90s, when Robert De Niro was going to play Ferrari. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman were also considered by the filmmaker, but financial constraints prevented the film from being made until the summer of 2022 with an entirely new cast.
According to Michael Mann, the film will not strictly speaking be a biopic, as the story of the film will only cover three months of Enzo Ferrari’s life in the summer of 1957. At that time, the Italian manufacturer was on the verge of bankruptcy. Faced with significant personal and family problems, he decided to participate in the legendary Mille Miglia transalpine race.
Expected to hit American theaters on December 25th, Ferrari will be released in France direct to Prime Video in 2024 at an as yet unknown date.
