EMA: MTV Awards canceled due to war between Israel and Hamas

This year’s MTV Europe Music Awards will no longer take place due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The event was scheduled for November 5 in Paris. The information was spread on the official Twitter profile of the award, which justified the cancellation by stating that it is not the right time for a global celebration.

The statement expresses concern for the team carrying out the event, the artists and the people who will travel from different parts of the world to be present at the occasion.

Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to proceed The MTV EMAs 2023 as a precaution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life.

The profile stated that the awards are expected to repeat in 2024.

The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch devastating events continue to unfold in Israel and Gaza, this does not appear to be the time to celebrate globally. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a time for mourning. We look forward to hosting the MTV EMAs again in November 2024.

MTV also reported that voting for the 2023 edition will continue until the end of the month and that winners will still receive their MTV EMA trophies.
