The athlete was caught doping and will be out of action for 13 months. He claimed cross-contamination of the dietary supplement

The young Brazilian tennis player Victor Bini, 20, was suspended this Friday by the ITIA, the International Tennis Integrity Association. The reason was doping and a 13-month suspension, just over a year.
He was captured at the M15 tournament held in April in Brazil. The athlete was caught with clomiphene metabolites. Clomiphene, an anti-estrogenic substance, is always banned by section S4 of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substances list.
Bini, who was ranked 1631st in the ATP rankings, provided evidence that the source of the clomiphene was a contaminated supplement custom-made in Brazil. The ITIA also received other submissions from the player, including photographs taken of the supplement in the months before he tested positive for clomiphene and a history of his use.
The ITIA consulted the WADA-accredited laboratory in Montreal, which confirmed that the positive result was consistent with Bini’s claim of a contaminated supplement. Given the circumstances of the case, the ITIA accepted that it was more likely than not that the customized supplement was the source of the clomiphene found in the player’s system.
The TADP stipulates that a four-year suspension be imposed if the ADRV is intentional and two years for unintentional cases, with further reductions possible depending on the degree of fault or negligence of the player.
In this case, the ITIA accepted that the violation was not intentional and that the player had not committed any significant fault or negligence for this violation. The ITIA proposed, and Bini accepted, a 13-month period of ineligibility.
Clomiphene is considered a specific substance, therefore it does not entail mandatory provisional suspension and since the player did not choose to carry out a voluntary provisional suspension, Bini’s disqualification period runs from 3 October 2023 until midnight on 2 November 2024. During this period, the player is prohibited from playing, training or participating in any tennis events authorized or sanctioned by the ITIA tennis members: ATP, ITF, WTA, Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open.
