The second big screen adaptation of the novel A running man by Stephen King, directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Kid Driver) is (finally) due out next year.
Speaking to /Film (via ComingSoon ), Simon Kinberg updated the status of the project. In February 2021, Deadline reported thatEdgar Wright was attached to direct the remake of the 1987 film, while Simon Kinberg It will be co-produced and Michael Bacall will write it.
“ One of my favorite directors of all time and one of my favorite people, just a super amazing guy“, he said Simon Kinberg. “Obviously a movie buff. We are actively working on it. He is actively working on the script with Michael Bacal. And our hope would be that this will be a movie that, again, all fingers crossed and luck and everything else will go its way that Edgar could make next year.“

The producer continues:The good thing is that Edgar, quite separately, before Paramount and I started figuring out how to get the remake rights, which was difficult, he himself tweeted — and I’m obviously on every possible platform — he tweeted that if there was a remake that Had to do it one day, it would be Running Man.“
