The actor participated in the 20th edition and said he might leave the program due to health problems
Actor Babu Santana said he was almost expelled from the Big Brother Brasil house in 2020, when he was among the participants in the reality show Globo. He declared it in an interview with Otaviano Costa il Otalabthe presenter’s program on the UOL portal.
According to Babu, in the first few weeks of the program he came to attention for being sedentary and pre-diabetic. “The second day I did that miserable race and discovered I was ultra sedentary,” the actor said. “I had ear cramps for two weeks. I didn’t even know they caused ear cramps. I was completely screwed. I didn’t know I was pre-diabetic,” he continued.
After that, he says he had to adapt his habits at home. Babu says he stopped drinking soda to reduce his glycemic index. “I was almost eliminated because of that. The guy said, ‘If you can’t lower your blood sugar, I’ll have to eliminate you from the game’. Then I stopped drinking soda during the day,” he said in an interview.
The 2020 edition was the first in the history of the program in which the house was divided into Pipoca, with anonymous people, and Camarote, whose participants were artists and influencers. It was also the edition marked by the Covid pandemic and which guaranteed high ratings, renewing the strength of the program.
Babu, who was one of the participants in the Camarote, was the last eliminated from the house before the final, played between Thelminha (winner of the edition), Manu Gavassi (runner-up) and Rafa Kalimann. The edition was also marked by the Paredão between Manu, Prior, Babu’s playing partner, and Mari Gonzalez.
The vote broke a record, reaching 1.532 billion total votes. Prior was eliminated with 56.73%, while Manu had 42.51% and Mari only 0.76%.
