In his first matches in charge of the Brazilian women’s national team, Arthur Elias analyzed the matches against Canada, in the October friendlies. In the first match, 1-0 against Brazil last week, and this Tuesday (31), the Canadians won 2-0.
The Brazil coach, making his debut on the pitch, said that it is a project under construction, taking into account the few days of training.
– It’s a construction. We can put more pressure on the opponent, we can work on ball possession, as we did especially in the second part of the first match (last week, the first friendly). And in that first half I really liked our posture, with possession of the marking. So I think we were not consistent throughout the 90 minutes of each match. And that’s what we’re going to look for now. But the show is there. I think the Seleção has shown that we can play differently, with a new understanding of the athletes within a characteristic, that they like to play and feel comfortable – underlined the coach.
And he also spoke about the call-up and what each player brings to the team:
– Optimistic, calm, because we know the plan we have for the future. It gives players the chance to transfer what they do to the clubs by training with us. So I think this call for the game brought us a lot more resources than what we did in Granja Comary, because this is football here. We have to stay calm, position ourselves when the opponent is better, as Canada was better in some moments of the second half – explained Arthur Elias regarding the work he is carrying out with the national team.
