Mission accomplished for Melanie Laurent’s Thieves. The actor-director’s feature film, number 1 in France, is also a huge success worldwide. In total, the film is in the top ten in no less than 86 countries. It ranks first among the most viewed non-English films with 18,500,000 total views in just five days.

Netflix & Figures Bulletin, which compiles a weekly report on the platform’s audienceadds that the action comedy achieves “A much better run than all the other French movies Netflix released on Wednesday“.

By comparison, Voleuses has recorded more than three times as much as the film Friendzone (6 million views) and is well ahead of Danny Boone’s Netflix film 8, rue de l’Humanité (4.3 million).

Even more surprisingly, Thieves also outsold Locked In, a thriller starring Famke Janssen, as the No. 1 English-language film in the world, recording 17,800,000 views in five days.

After Voleuses, Mélanie Laurent will continue her cross-platform experience with Sulak, a film produced by Lucas Bravo for Prime Video.

Thieves is available on Netflix.
