Rua do Medo will get a new film on Netflix

Trilogy premiered in 2021 and was a hit among fans of the streaming platform

After rumors that Netflix would be developing new films in the franchise Street of Fearwhich debuted as a trilogy in 2021, Scott Stuberpresident of the streaming platform’s cinema area, confirmed that the company is working on a new adaptation of the books by R.L. Stine.

“There’s an independent film we’re working on right now and, again, we’re trying to get the script right, but I really like it, and so does the crew. So, I feel like if we can get the script right, it will be a great extension of the franchise.”revealed to Colliderwithout revealing which of the dozens of stories would be the subject of the new film.

Street of Fear arrived in three parts on Netflix, all released during the month of July 2021. In the first, set in 1994, a mysterious murder in the city of Shadyside, Ohio, triggers a series of events, which leads to the discovery of a terrible curse.

In the second film, we go back to the past and follow the summer vacation at Camp Nightwing, where a resident of Shadyside is possessed by the need to kill and the fun turns into a fight for survival.

Finally, in the third and final film of the trilogy, we go even further back in time, to 1666, the year in which the origin of the curse of Sarah Fierwhich crosses time to make the residents of Shadyside hell.

The films feature a diverse cast, including Kiana Madeira (After: Forever), Olivia Scott Welch (Panic), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Fred Hechinger (The Woman in the Window), Ashley Zukerman (A Teacher), Sadie Sink (The Whale), Emily Rudd (One Piece), Brandon Spink (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Ted Sutherland (Rise) and Gillian Jacobs (Community), among others.
