12 The Origin of Monkeys
The title of Terry Gilliam’s Twelve Monkeys is inspired by Frank Baulm’s novel: The witch of the day in which the king convinces twelve monkeys to become his soldiers.
Stars without dollars
Terry Gilliam wanted to keep the spirit of a small production alive, so he asked his two star actors Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt (an actor you can test yourself for here too) to renegotiate their royalties downward: Willis was paid a percentage. Income and Brad Pitt received half a million dollars, three times less than he could ask for then.
Photos of Bruce Willis
Terry Gilliam gave Bruce Willis a list of “Willis acting clichés”, or “Willis acting clichés”, not to use during the film. Including “blue eyes with a steely gaze”.
Smoking kills
Terry Gilliam was afraid that Brad Pitt did not have enough nervous and quick phrases to embody his character, so he asked him to train with a coach. Finally, Gilliam asked Pitt to stop smoking and he was able to perform his role exactly as the director had envisioned.
Now it’s up to you to play and try to find the titles of these ten movies starring Bruce Willis in good company!
