After a lower-than-expected opening, The wonders continues to deliver very poor results for Marvel Studios. According to data from Box Office Mojo, the sequence of Captain Marvel (2019) fell to third place on the US box office chart, despite only entering its second week in theaters.

The descent of The wonders represents, in numbers, a nearly 80% drop from the previous weekend, the largest on record – the previous record Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), with 69%. Compared to the launch day, November 9, the drop was even more intense.

With an investment of $200 million (R$983 million), the film opened with $47 million in its first weekend, a relatively low figure for productions with a Marvel label. The amount raised has already ranked the sequel as the studio’s worst debut in years.

For comparison purposes, Captain Marvel, as of 2019, grossed $63.3 million in its debut, for a global total of $110.3 million. Before The wondersthe worst box office were The Incredible Hulksince 2008, with 55.4 million US dollars, and Ant manin 2015, with $57.2 million.
