Warning – The article below contains spoilers for M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Visit.” So please go ahead if you haven’t seen it yet.
He is a director who is a master in the art of stunts. We’re obviously talking about M. Night Shyamalan, who has no equal when it comes to twisting your brain without warning. Obviously, there’s a famous twist to Sixiem Sense’s situation, but perhaps one of the best twists presented by an American filmmaker is “The Visit.”
Released in theaters in 2015, The Visit tells the story of Becca and Tyler, two children who are sent to spend a week in Pennsylvania on the farm of grandparents they have never met. Little by little, grandfather and grandmother’s behavior becomes more and more strange…
The incredible twist of this M. Night Shyamalan visit? Two-thirds of the way through the horror thriller, Becca and Tyler discover from afar that their grandparents are… not their grandparents!
These two individuals are actually particularly deranged crooks who murdered the children’s real grandparents. Below, the apocalypse scene, without the music to illustrate it, that sends chills down your spine.
While promoting his latest opus, Knock at the Cabin, M. Night Shyamalan told us that The Visit’s twist was his favorite in his filmography. “Just because it’s crazy, I’d choose it”– he told us with a smile. “I remember when I thought about it, I was in my office. I had this idea and I went up to my team to tell them who was running my business. They all gasped in surprise. I said, ‘Oh, really?’
“In terms of audience reaction, I’ve had voices sent from the theater when they’re watching The Visit to let me know how scary the movie was, as well as when people discover something.”concludes the filmmaker. “It’s very vocal. I have all these audio files of the audience screaming and clapping at the same time.”
