Paul Enger began life as a professional footballer before, on a whim, he attempted to steal a famous painting by artist Edvard Munch titled. Crying, one of the jewels of Norwegian art. Barely twenty years old, he commits a number of thefts and robberies that keep him out of trouble. So he needs a new challenge.

I wanted to be rich, but also famous, to show the whole world that I can do something huge. Great shot, just what I wanted!

It’s the 1980s and Enger organizes a heist at Oslo’s National Gallery to recover. Crying. Drawn to this image from childhood, the burglar organizes the robbery, which happens as simply as possible: scouting, surveillance, a ladder to reach the window, and escape under his arm. Except, in his haste, Enger… takes the wrong picture!

Someone “throws” him out of his town and he spends time in prison. He uses his time to learn from other prisoners: “Before I might have been a common criminal, but when I got out of prison I became an expert”.
