Actor and comedian Robin Williams plays the genie (as well as the narrator) in Aladdin. This is the first time that a celebrity from the cast of a major animated film has become a promotional item. Williams improvised so much that it took over 16 hours to record.

However, the actor agreed to pay the studio’s lowest salary to an actor on the condition that his voice not be used for merchandising, and Jean occupied less than 25% of the screen space in posters and trailers. These few rules were not followed and Robin William went against the Walt Disney Company.
