A fantasy blockbuster is available on Lionsgate+ that should be part of a big new monster universe. However, the franchise was quickly cancelled.
Using the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a template, the Universal studio also wanted to build a larger franchise that combined classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Mummy in a modern guise.. The first planned film of the Cinematic Universe was Dracula – The Untold Story 2014, available on Lionsgate+. But nothing happened to the franchise.
This is what Dracula Untold is about
The story of the fantasy blockbuster Gary Shore is dedicated to Dracula’s royal inspiration, Prince Vlad of Transylvania (Luke Evans), who risks his life as a young nobleman in the 15th century to save his wife and son from the clutches of a murderous sultan. Due to a curse, he is destined to become the first vampire and needs to satisfy his bloodlust.
Dracula Untold is part of a universe of lost monsters
With a budget of $70 million, the fantasy film has grossed more than $217 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Commercially, Dracula Untold was a minor success. Overall, the film still failed. A post-credits scene shot later was intended to create a bridge to The Mummy with Tom Cruisepremiered later but completely ignored.
