Santos are negotiating the signing of Willian Bigode. The striker is free on the market after not having renewed his contract with Fluminense and can strengthen Peixe from 2024. This was announced SBT and confirmed by Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 37-year-old player was on loan from Tricolor to Atletico-PR. Wearing the Furacão shirt, he played 23 games and scored four goals in 2023, one of which against Alvinegro Praiano himself, in the penultimate round of the Brazilian championship.
Willian is a player with extensive experience in football. There are 742 commitments and 169 balls in the net. The attacker was revealed by Guarani, but stood out wearing the shirts of Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Palmeiras.
In 2022, after leaving Verdão, he signed with Fluminense, where he remained for just over a season. In March this year he went to Atletico-PR.
In his CV, Willian also has three Libertadores titles, four Brazilian championships, one Copa do Brasil, one Paulistão, one Mineiro and two Cariocas.
Santos are looking to renew their squad for 2024 following their relegation to Serie B of the Brazilian league. The club, which will have Marcelo Teixeira as president starting from January, will only play in the Campeonato Paulista and the Second Division next year.
Case of cryptocurrencies
Willian comes off a complicated year following the cryptocurrency scandal. Gustavo Scarpa filed a police report on November 3, 2022 stating that he lost approximately R$6 million in investments made with Xland Holding. The company would have been presented by Willian, in June 2020, when both were still working together for Palmeiras.
Willian said his financial management company, WLJC, had a “partnership” as well as “loyalty” with Xland. In August 2022, however, after suspecting a possible scam, Scarpa attempted to recover part of the invested sum, but without success.
Scarpa turned to Willian Bigode to try to turn the situation around. The attacker, who also claimed to have been injured and lost a large sum, assured that his partner would receive his money back.
Together, Scarpa and Mayke, who were also involved in the dispute, would have lost around R$11 million.
