Peters Hoskins, the athlete’s father, mourned his daughter’s death in a statement.

We didn’t just lose a daughter and a sister, her children lost their mother, a free spirit, a giver with a big heart, patience. and enthusiasm for life. She was the rock of their lives and ours and we must honor her memory so that they can grow up knowing who she was, what she stood for and what she gave to all those whose lives she touched,” he said.
Rohan Dennis was arrested and charged with murder by dangerous driving, posted bail and is expected to answer for his crimes in a trial scheduled for next March.
Melissa Hoskins competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and retired after the Rio Olympic Games in May 2017. She has been married to Rohan since 2018, with whom she has two children.
