Fourth in the WTA, the Kazakh is seeded second in the WTA 500 dispute in Australia
Second seed of the WTA 500 in Brisbane, Australia, the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, fourth in the WTA, is in the final of the tournament after overcoming the momentum of the young Czech Linda Noskova, 40th. Rybakina will seek an unprecedented title.
Serving a lot and working well on backhand returns, Rybakina had a fast performance and needed 1h05 to close the score at 6/3 6/2, having converted eight aces into one and won 80% of the points played with the first serve against 71% of successes for Noskova, who committed four double faults against one.
The Kazakh continued with the good pace shown in previous matches, quickly winning her service games. Without being threatened in the first set, Rybakina opened the match by scoring 3/0 with a break in the 2nd game due to a forced error by her rival with a forehand and she succeeded. In the second phase, Rybakina again opened a big lead on the scoreboard, this time a 5/1 with breaks in the 3rd and 5th games and three break points saved in the 4th. Serving for the match, the Kazakh still had to save a break before winning.
Chasing an unprecedented title on the Brisbane courts, Rybakina faces second-ranked Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, who scored 6/2 6/4 against former No. 1 and compatriot, Victoria Azarenka, 23rd.
Rybakina and Sabalenka reached the final of last year’s Australian Open with Aryna triumphing in a battle. Overall there are seven matches and five victories for Sabalenka.
