The accident occurred on Thursday around 8pm.
An unexpected trip to the CEEE Equatorial electricity substation at 8.10pm this Thursday left the town of Torres, on the north coast, completely in the dark.
Despite the efforts, CEEE Equatorial managed to restore service to 50% of affected customers on the same night through maneuvers in the distribution network, but approximately 18,300 customers remained without supply. The municipalities of Torres, Mambituba, Três Forquilhas and Morrinhos do Sul were affected, causing not only a lack of electricity but also the interruption of telephone and internet services in part of the municipality.
CEEE Equatorial crews, displaced from nearby municipalities, are working together to restore service, but so far there is no information on the expected completion date of the repairs.
The situation highlights the vulnerability of electricity infrastructure and the need to be prepared to deal with unexpected events that directly impact the daily lives of affected communities.
