The child swallows 30 pills and is hospitalized in serious condition in Porto Alegre

The boy was at home, in Torres, with his nanny when he ingested the drug. He had to be escorted to Porto Alegre, where he received emergency treatment.

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) carried out a crucial action last Wednesday morning (10), escorting an ambulance of the Emergency Mobile Service (SAMU) which was carrying a child in serious condition. The purpose of the escort was to ensure the rapid arrival of the child at the Criança Conceição hospital, in Porto Alegre, where he would receive emergency treatment.

The patient, a 9-year-old boy, was at home with a babysitter while his mother worked. Suffering from autism and epilepsy, the boy ingested around 30 pills at a time, without anyone noticing. The mother was informed two hours after the incident, when the child began to show symptoms of poisoning.

Given the gravity of the situation, the SAMU rescue team went to the family’s home and, given the urgency, decided to transport the child to the Criança Conceição hospital in Porto Alegre. At the request of the SAMU team, the PRF mobilized its teams to assist the ambulance during the journey, ensuring that the patient quickly reached the hospital to receive essential medical care.
