Tonight on TV: This cast is a great action movie, but only insiders know about it

The category of modern action stars includes Jason Statham, Liam Neeson, Keanu Reeves and even Dwayne Johnson… but there is also a lesser-known actor whose spotlight could be very interesting to revisit: the Brits. Scott Adkins, whose NRJ12 offers tonight’s Spy Games, one of his very muscular films.

Released here on VOD in 2020, Spy games tells the story of Martin Baxter, a former secret agent haunted by his past as a spy. When a Ukrainian journalist asks him to find documents that incriminate the Russian secret services, he is pursued by his former colleagues from the CIA and MI-6, and the FSB kidnaps his daughter. Baxter then has 24 hours to hand over the papers and the reporter or his daughter will disappear.

Spy Games, a highly muscled espionage film shot in Ukraine and London, is the perfect opportunity to talk about Scott Adkins, a name unknown to the general public but known to true action movie fans. ok

Coming from a family of butchers, Scott Adkins discovered martial arts at the age of 10 through a local judo club and went on to learn taekwondo, kickboxing, muay thai, MMA and various other disciplines. Passionate about cinema (his idols are Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude Van Damme), Scott Adkins quickly specialized in action, working with Jackie Chan (Amateur Spy, Medallion), Tsui Hark (Black Mask 2: City of Masks), Jet Li. (Danny the Dog), Matt Damon (Revenge in Cannes) or even Hugh Jackman (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in which he “lends his body” to Weapon XI / Deadpool).

Scott Adkins came to the fore in 2006 with One Will Be Invincible 2 – Last Round. In this film, he plays the character of Russian fighter Yuri Boyka, who is so popular with fans that he will reprise his role in One Will Become Invincible 3 and Boyka: One Will Become Invincible.

The one who starred alongside his idol Jean-Claude Van Damme in The Revenge Trail, The Killing Games, Expendables 2: Special Unit and Universal Soldier – Judgment Day also starred in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Increasingly in demand, he recently starred in Netflix’s Day Shift and John Wick 4, where he played the bad guy Killa.
