Actress Marilu Bueno, known for several Globo soap operas, died on Wednesday (22) in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 82. She had been admitted to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital in southern Rio since the beginning of June.

Last week, the actress underwent abdominal surgery and was in serious condition in the local Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The cause of her death was not disclosed by her family.

With several roles in the theater, in over 60 years of career, she appeared for the first time on the screen in 1960, in the feature film “O Cupim”, directed by Carlos Manga.

His soap opera debut dates back to 1972, with “O Bofe”, and has been a constant presence on Globo ever since. In 1983’s War of the Sexes, she had such an outstanding role as the funny waitress Olivia who ended up being cast in the 2012 remake, reviving the same character.

Their appearances often represented the humorous highlight of the plots. This was the case with Mariinha in “Estúpido Cupido” (1976), Tetê in “A Gata Comeu” (1986) and especially with the fairy Margarida, in the morning soap opera “Caça Talentos”, with Angélica in 1996.

But his works have not always been marked by joy. In 1992’s “De Corpo e Alma”, she plays the mother of the young Yasmin, played by Daniela Perez, murdered in the middle of the production.

Her most recent roles include Narcisa in “Êta Mundo Bom!” (2016), by Walcyr Carrasco, and Dulce Sampaio in “Salve-se Quem Puder” (2020), by Daniel Ortiz.

He has also participated in series such as “Escolinha do Professor Raimundo”, “Sítio do Picapau Amarelo” and “A Grande Família”. And he shot the classics “Dias Melhores Virão” (1989), by Cacá Diegues, “Lua de Cristal” (1990), by Tizuka Yamasaki, and “O Homem do Ano” (2003), by José Henrique Fonseca.

For having acted alongside Xuxa (“Lua de Cristal”) and Angélica (“Caça Talentos”) at the height of the success of the two presenters, and for having also embodied Dona Carochinha of “Sítio do Picapau Amarelo”, Marilu Bueno is remembered especially by the broad smile that marked the childhood of millions of Brazilians.
