The victims’ grandmother was injured in the attack and was promptly taken for medical treatment.

Two sisters were killed in the early hours of Monday (22nd), in Santa Maria, in the central region of the state. The crime took place in Rua Rui Barbosa, in the Carolina district, around 1.30 am. The victims were 17 and 23 years old.

The Military Brigade and the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) responded to the call, finding the two sisters already dead. The injured grandmother was promptly taken to medical care.

According to information from the Military Brigade, the crime occurred when a group of six people arrived at the house, where the three victims were present. The group invaded the place, proclaiming themselves “police”, and fired shots.

The elderly woman, the only survivor of the attack, said the group of attackers fled after the attack. She was rushed to medical attention for her shoulder injury.

At the time of the crime, the three children of the 23-year-old victim, two girls aged 2 and 5, and an 11-year-old boy were also in the house. The children were taken to the neighbors’ house and, later, to the girls’ father’s house. The identities of the victims will not be revealed to protect the children’s privacy.

The Military Brigade is busy locating the suspects in the crime, carrying out intensive searches in the region.
